A Letter On Change and Pivots

I really want your solo business to succeed. Whatever is currently in the way of it, I hope that you read the exact article that’s going to get you over the hump.

I mean this truly.

I believe in the solo economy. I believe it might even be the future of work now that AI is determined to come for every office job in America.

And I wish I was the person to write the article that unlocks everything for you. I’ve tried a few different times to be.

But it’s just not aligned with what I want to do with my life.

See, for the past 8 years, I have actually had a dream. I’ve wanted to start a brand called “I Drink, I Think”. It’s exactly what it sounds like. I have a few drinks, with myself - with someone else - and I think about the state of the world.

How can we make it better?

How can we see the world through each other’s eyes?

How are the systems around us holding us back?

How can we break through?

And it’s time I stop trying to be something I’m not (a solo business advisor) and start becoming the person I want to be (someone who contributes to the ever-growing cabal of people helping to reform the world).

Substack seems like the perfect place to start.

So I just wanted to say two things before we part.

1. I’m sorry I couldn’t make your solo business work. Maybe as I venture out onto my own, I can share tips in DMs if you’re struggling with something specific.

2. If hearing about all the ways the world is letting us down (and what we should do about it) isn’t your bag, I understand. You didn’t subscribe for that. If you fall into this camp, no hard feelings, I understand if you want to unsubscribe.

For everyone else, I hope you’ll join me on the journey towards learning more about the world around us, what options are available to improve it, and just wtf is going on around here.
